Birthday, Babies and Business

ITS OUR BIRTHDAY I don’t really know where to begin, it’s been the craziest two years of my life. The girls are growing more independent day by day and it’s given me the chance to reflect on what’s been the most incredibly wonderful but exceptionally difficult two years of my life. Its actually our fourth birthday but this is kind of a summery of the last two years and juggling the business as well and becoming a mum of twins. Balancing Business and Babies comes with its challenges and transitioning into parenthood as well as managing the dynamics and growth of my company has been extremely stressful at times. Running my business from the side has given me the opportunity to reflect and concentrate on pushing the business forward. I've been able to pursue some of my other dreams and its given my staff the chance to flourish and grow into more senior positions. I feel very privileged that I have a fantastic team and I have been able to work part time hours at the salon so I can be at home with my babies and also focus on the growth of the company.

Over the last twelve months I have started to run private beauty courses along side the general running’s of the business. I gained my teaching qualification in 2015 and it was always been a dream to teach and share my knowledge with others interested in starting a career with in the industry. I am now working alongside a fantastic business woman Jane Bryan who provides courses up and down the UK and hopefully soon internationally, all courses I run are ran in association with the Jane Bryan training academy and accredited by Towergate. I regularly update my Facebook Training page "Kolaine's Beauty Training Acadamy" with up and coming course dates and request for models for my trainees so be sure to check it out. For more information on courses we provide please check out the Jane Bryan Beauty Training website www.janebryanbeautytraining.com

I have been an Electrolysis specialist for the last 11 years having discovered how much you can change someone’s life and restore confidence through permanent hair removal it was something I loved from the get go. I trained while at college and took part in the prestigious Sterex Student of the year competition and won my Electrolysis machine. The competition included students from England, Ireland, Scotland and wales and I feel very privileged to have taken part in it. Since then I have gone on to do two Advanced Cosmetic procedures courses and have been offering Advanced electrolysis since 2011 The most recent course I done was with the Cosmetic Consultants in Nottingham back in November 2018 where is picked up additional techniques and a wider selection of treatable skin disorders. I have now set up weekly Clinics at the salon and offer treatments on selective Mondays, Friday mornings and Saturday afternoons. I use the same machine as I do for electrolysis and can remove a variety of skin blemishes. Using short wave Diathermy(AC) the blemish is cauterised and removed permanently with little or no recovery time and multiple blemishes can be removed in one treatment slot.

Here’s a list of treatable Skin conditions.
Skin Tag's, Blood spots, Milia (Milk spots), Thread Veins, Warts, Verruca’s, Seborrhoeic Keratosis, Dermatosis papulosa Nigra, Age spots, Xanthoma, Syringoma, Molluscum Contagiosum, Sebaceous Cysts

Moles/Hairs in moles (Doctors note required to treat moles) Moles are easily treated but rather than "removing" they are visibly reduced, the first treatment will reduce the appearance by three quarters and then a follow up treatment can smooth it so it is flat to the skin. Due to the depth of pigmentation with in a mole the colour can never be guaranteed to exactly match the surrounding skin but will almost certainly be lighter.

The length and number of treatments will vary depending on skin response and skin condition.

* Treatment is not suitable for anyone who is on blood thinning medication or has a blood disorder or pacemaker

S U M M E R Y
Its been amazing to watch the business evolve and I’m so grateful that my clients have supported me the whole way. Running a business takes a LOT of hard work. I once had some once laugh at me when I was expressing the stresses running a business comes with and was told to wait until I had children to appreciate what hard work was. On reflection I’d like to say running a business is just as if not more complex than having children and I now juggle both!. Its amazing what you can do when you put your mind to it. My babies only require love and nurture, My business has to be nurtured in so many different ways. My to-do list seems to multiply daily. I often get asked when i'm going back to work full time.................. if you count weekends and evening as well as every hour in the day I work from home as well as looking after the twins  then I think I probably work 2 full time jobs in one week. When you run a business not only are you the expert in your field of work some how you are the Marketing executive, Receptionist, Production manager, Events Organiser, Training and HR Manager , Figure cruncher ect ect (I’ll stop there) of course my expertise don’t spread to that many areas but these are things I have to deal with on daily basis and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. I have some amazing business's that provide me with the support to manage my business efficiently so i'd just like to say a big thank you to Emma and the team at Gateway HR, My Accountant Stephen Aldwinckle - Nineteen accountants, My VA Shannon and Charlotte from Hour 25 and my Website designer Chris from CSM Web design. you've all helped me progress and i'm very grateful for your continued support.

One of the best things about running your own business is creating opportunities for other people and watching them grow. I try to build great working relationships with all of my staff and encourage constant self development. I have created a community and we now have other established businesses working from within the Barn, Stacy our resident hairdresser is such an asset to the team and we love having her work along side us. Icon bridal are now located on the first floor of the barn and we all work together to provide and exceptional experience and a place where you can come and prepare for some of the most important times in your life.

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog I hope you have enjoyed being part of our journey so far and will continue to support us as the business grows and evolves. Having a family has always been important to me and having the girls has ignited even more of a desire to succeed and provide my family with a stable and happy future.
