Birthday, Babies and Business

ITS OUR BIRTHDAY I don’t really know where to begin, it’s been the craziest two years of my life. The girls are growing more independent day by day and it’s given me the chance to reflect on what’s been the most incredibly wonderful but exceptionally difficult two years of my life. Its actually our fourth birthday but this is kind of a summery of the last two years and juggling the business as well and becoming a mum of twins. Balancing Business and Babies comes with its challenges and transitioning into parenthood as well as managing the dynamics and growth of my company has been extremely stressful at times. Running my business from the side has given me the opportunity to reflect and concentrate on pushing the business forward. I've been able to pursue some of my other dreams and its given my staff the chance to flourish and grow into more senior positions. I feel very privileged that I have a fantastic team and I have been able to work part time hours at the salon so I can be at home with my babies and also focus on the growth of the company.

Over the last twelve months I have started to run private beauty courses along side the general running’s of the business. I gained my teaching qualification in 2015 and it was always been a dream to teach and share my knowledge with others interested in starting a career with in the industry. I am now working alongside a fantastic business woman Jane Bryan who provides courses up and down the UK and hopefully soon internationally, all courses I run are ran in association with the Jane Bryan training academy and accredited by Towergate. I regularly update my Facebook Training page "Kolaine's Beauty Training Acadamy" with up and coming course dates and request for models for my trainees so be sure to check it out. For more information on courses we provide please check out the Jane Bryan Beauty Training website www.janebryanbeautytraining.com

I have been an Electrolysis specialist for the last 11 years having discovered how much you can change someone’s life and restore confidence through permanent hair removal it was something I loved from the get go. I trained while at college and took part in the prestigious Sterex Student of the year competition and won my Electrolysis machine. The competition included students from England, Ireland, Scotland and wales and I feel very privileged to have taken part in it. Since then I have gone on to do two Advanced Cosmetic procedures courses and have been offering Advanced electrolysis since 2011 The most recent course I done was with the Cosmetic Consultants in Nottingham back in November 2018 where is picked up additional techniques and a wider selection of treatable skin disorders. I have now set up weekly Clinics at the salon and offer treatments on selective Mondays, Friday mornings and Saturday afternoons. I use the same machine as I do for electrolysis and can remove a variety of skin blemishes. Using short wave Diathermy(AC) the blemish is cauterised and removed permanently with little or no recovery time and multiple blemishes can be removed in one treatment slot.

Here’s a list of treatable Skin conditions.
Skin Tag's, Blood spots, Milia (Milk spots), Thread Veins, Warts, Verruca’s, Seborrhoeic Keratosis, Dermatosis papulosa Nigra, Age spots, Xanthoma, Syringoma, Molluscum Contagiosum, Sebaceous Cysts

Moles/Hairs in moles (Doctors note required to treat moles) Moles are easily treated but rather than "removing" they are visibly reduced, the first treatment will reduce the appearance by three quarters and then a follow up treatment can smooth it so it is flat to the skin. Due to the depth of pigmentation with in a mole the colour can never be guaranteed to exactly match the surrounding skin but will almost certainly be lighter.

The length and number of treatments will vary depending on skin response and skin condition.

* Treatment is not suitable for anyone who is on blood thinning medication or has a blood disorder or pacemaker

Its been amazing to watch the business evolve and I’m so grateful that my clients have supported me the whole way. Running a business takes a LOT of hard work. I once had some once laugh at me when I was expressing the stresses running a business comes with and was told to wait until I had children to appreciate what hard work was. On reflection I’d like to say running a business is just as if not more complex than having children and I now juggle both!. Its amazing what you can do when you put your mind to it. My babies only require love and nurture, My business has to be nurtured in so many different ways. My to-do list seems to multiply daily. I often get asked when i'm going back to work full time.................. if you count weekends and evening as well as every hour in the day I work from home as well as looking after the twins  then I think I probably work 2 full time jobs in one week. When you run a business not only are you the expert in your field of work some how you are the Marketing executive, Receptionist, Production manager, Events Organiser, Training and HR Manager , Figure cruncher ect ect (I’ll stop there) of course my expertise don’t spread to that many areas but these are things I have to deal with on daily basis and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. I have some amazing business's that provide me with the support to manage my business efficiently so i'd just like to say a big thank you to Emma and the team at Gateway HR, My Accountant Stephen Aldwinckle - Nineteen accountants, My VA Shannon and Charlotte from Hour 25 and my Website designer Chris from CSM Web design. you've all helped me progress and i'm very grateful for your continued support.

One of the best things about running your own business is creating opportunities for other people and watching them grow. I try to build great working relationships with all of my staff and encourage constant self development. I have created a community and we now have other established businesses working from within the Barn, Stacy our resident hairdresser is such an asset to the team and we love having her work along side us. Icon bridal are now located on the first floor of the barn and we all work together to provide and exceptional experience and a place where you can come and prepare for some of the most important times in your life.

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog I hope you have enjoyed being part of our journey so far and will continue to support us as the business grows and evolves. Having a family has always been important to me and having the girls has ignited even more of a desire to succeed and provide my family with a stable and happy future.

The Next Chapter

It's been 10 weeks since my life took a massive twist and one that has already and is going to change my life in so many positive ways. I've not had the time or the energy to think about how I feel or even contemplate what's happened. I've just got on with it and done what was necessary to get my business off the ground. I'm starting to feel as tho I'm getting some normality back in my life and not working until 11 every night. I know for those of you that know me finding out I'd left R&W came as a massive shock, I just want to thank you all for standing by me and not questioning my decision. I'd had just under a year to come to terms with it and I was so ready to take the next step. I knew I had to maintain a a level of professionalism with my clients by not saying anything until i was ready or I could have jeppodise my opportunity to leave at a point I felt ready to make a go at it on my own. When this all came about originally over a year ago now it came as a massive shock to me. I felt let down and heart broken and knew I couldn't stay. It has quite honestly been the hardest year of my life but I wasn't going to let it stop me fulfilling my dreams. I spent the last year sorting my finances out and planning how I was going to do all of this. I honestly couldn't have done any of this with out the support of my partner and a few others that I can't mention but you know who you are. It wasnt through choice I decided to leave, I felt I was left with no option. Thank you to those of you that have taken the time to listen to what has been going on. I've put my heart and soul into my career and I will continue to do so. My new business is going from strength to strength. I've achieved everything I've set out to so far and I'm looking forward to the summer working along side My best friend and colleague Kirsty and continuing to develope my business and dream ❤️

My latest Video tutorial

Ahhh finally after what feels like forever I'v got my 3rd Video Tutorial edited and ready to upload. Talk about stressful!! Technology is Evil but I'm feeling kinda chuffed with myself for sticking at it and figuring out ways around Apps crashing, files unable to open in certain formats, limited storage, lack of knowledge and no professional equipment. Thank you so much to eveyone that's put up with me picking their brains this week including my lovely clients.

It's too late to start a "YouTube" upload  now and I'm shattered so signing off for the night and I will post it first thing in the morning.

Lots of love

Permanent Hair removal - Gone forever

Hi everyone

Today's Blog is all about permanent methods of hair removal

I'm sure most of you reading this have tried one method of hair removal or another at some point in your life and been frustrated at the persistent regrowth. Whether its hair removal from the legs, bikini or face. waxing, plucking and threading are great hair maintenance methods but the effects are only temporary.

So what next.....

I personally love Electrolysis I've seen it transform peoples lives helping build confidence where for so long they've had none, Iv specialized in Electrolysis since June 2008 when i entered the Sterex Electrology Student of the year competition. To enter i had to build a case study and gain minutes in treatment before sending my Video application off to demonstrate my knowledge and practical technique. I'm so pleased i put in the extra hours at college because it really helped build my confidence and got me ready to work in the industry. I've seen how amazing the results are first hand and would highly recommend anyone who wants to get rid of unwanted hair to try it. One thing i will say is make sure you do your research and pick a repeatable salon/electrologist that specializes specifically in hair removal. lots of students qualify after college with little experience and the last thing you want is to go for your first consultation and leave feeling disappointed. Electrolysis is NOT a 1 treatment wonder. But if you are persistent and have realistic expectations i can guarantee you will get the permanent results you want.

If your wondering how i got on in the competition I got through to the finals and won my own Electrolysis Machine.

Laser or Electrolysis

I've had lots of clients asking me how IPL/laser work and if it's actually worth it. But as it's not something I'm qualified in Iv not really been able to give them any advice. I decided to do some research and came across some awesome information on the Sterex website. So if your thinking of having any kind of permanent hair removal then I hope this link helps

Thanks for taking the time to read my blog it would be great to hear your thoughts on this
